Christof Thewes and Rudi Mahall formed the Band ‘Quartetto Pazzo’ in 1999. Furthermore the internationally renowned Cellist Tomas Ulrich from New York and the versatile drummer Dirk Peter Kölsch could be won for the project. Between improvisation and sophisticated composition the musicians act passionately with a free spirit on a high instrumental and energetic level, undogmatic and committed to the infinity of the moment.

After four albums (“Drei vom Rhein”, “Starke Gesten”, “Almaty Gogo”, “Sumo”) and a journey of ten years through the styles of pop culture (from FreeFunk and HeavyMetalJazz to CrossOver), Drei vom Rhein now present their new program: songs from frank zappa. In earlier days, DvR covered some of his songs and translated them into german (“Honey, don’t you want a man like me” a.o.), but now they play his “greatest hits“ - which were not easy to find, if you look at more than 100 albums (bootlegs included). Zappa fans know, that “the master himself” did not only compose instrumental stuff, but also really catchy songs with great lyrics. So - the current setup of DvR is a trip through the decades of Zappas creative work, of course in best DvR-Quality (“... groovy and powerful, between funk, rock and a little bit of hiphop” – Kölner Illustrierte). Besides the songs of Frank Zappa, DvR play some of their own stuff ... ... in fact - there’s no DvR-Concert without ”Silikon“!
